About the Role
As the SENCO, you will oversee the provision for students with special educational needs across the school, ensuring that every student receives the necessary support to reach their full potential. You will collaborate closely with teaching staff, senior leaders, and external agencies to implement strategies that promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This role is key to fostering a culture of inclusion and ensuring that all students' needs are met effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the school’s SEN provision, ensuring that students with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) receive high-quality, tailored support.
- Work closely with classroom teachers to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and effective learning strategies for students with SEND.
- Provide guidance, support, and training to staff on best practices for meeting the needs of students with SEND.
- Monitor and assess the progress of students with SEND, ensuring appropriate interventions are in place to support their development.
- Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to adopt a holistic approach in supporting students.
- Ensure compliance with SEND legislation and school policies.
- Lead and manage a team of teaching assistants and support staff to deliver targeted interventions for students with SEND.
What We’re Looking For
- A qualified teacher with the National Award for SEN Coordination (or currently working towards it).
- Significant experience in managing SEND provision within a secondary school setting.
- A strong passion for inclusive education, with a commitment to ensuring equal learning opportunities for all students.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with staff, students, and external partners.
