Are you an experienced and passionate SENCO looking for a new challenge? A fantastic opportunity has arisen within a Trust in Hertfordshire, covering two schools for a 12-month maternity cover. This role is pivotal in supporting pupils with additional needs and will start at Easter 2025 or earlier.


About the Role

As the SENCO for two schools within the Trust, you will play a critical role in leading the provision for pupils with SEND, ensuring every child can thrive. This is an exciting position for a skilled SENCO who is eager to make a meaningful difference across a collaborative and supportive network of schools.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the SEND Strategy: Develop and implement the SEND policy across both schools, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Support Pupils: Provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs, enabling their academic and personal development.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to create effective support plans for SEND students.
  • Train and Develop Staff: Offer guidance and training to ensure teachers and support staff are confident in supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Data and Reporting: Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions, preparing reports for governors and external stakeholders.
  • Inclusion: Foster an inclusive ethos across both schools, ensuring pupils with SEND feel supported and valued.

About You

The successful SENCO will have:

  • A National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience as a SENCO, ideally across multiple schools or settings.
  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative and proactive approach to supporting pupils, staff, and families.
  • The ability to adapt strategies to meet the needs of diverse school communities.
