Position: Design Technology (DT) Teacher

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Design Technology (DT) Teacher to join a dynamic secondary school in Bedford. This is an exciting opportunity to teach a wide range of DT subjects, including Product Design, Engineering, and Textiles. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop both practical and theoretical knowledge in Design Technology while helping them gain the skills necessary for their future careers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach Design Technology at Key Stage 3 and 4, covering a wide range of materials and techniques
• Develop and deliver engaging, hands-on lessons that foster creativity and problem-solving skills
• Prepare students for their GCSE exams, ensuring they are well-equipped for practical assessments and theory exams
• Manage a DT classroom and workshop environment, ensuring health and safety protocols are strictly followed
• Collaborate with other departments to deliver cross-curricular projects
• Encourage student participation in extracurricular activities, such as design clubs or competitions

Requirements:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience teaching Design Technology at secondary school level
• Expertise in at least one area of Design Technology (Product Design, Textiles, or Engineering)
• Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of the subject
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to inspire students and foster a love for design and innovation
