Humanities Teacher Required - Secondary School in Lambeth - January 2025 Start
A thriving secondary school in the diverse and vibrant borough of Lambeth is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Humanities Teacher to join their successful department. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in January 2025.
The Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a combination of Humanities subjects across Key Stages 3 and 4. This may include History, Geography, and Religious Education, with the specific subject combination dependent on the candidate's expertise and the school's needs. Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons that meet the requirements of the national curriculum and inspire students to develop a love of learning across the Humanities disciplines.
- Creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and an appreciation for the complexities of the human experience and the world around them.
- Assessing and monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and implementing differentiated learning strategies to cater to diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Utilizing a variety of teaching resources, including primary and secondary sources, maps, timelines, fieldwork opportunities, and technology, to enhance students' understanding and engagement.
- Collaborating with colleagues within the Humanities department to develop and enhance the curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to the school's commitment to providing a well-rounded education.
The Successful Candidate will have:
- A degree in a Humanities subject (History, Geography, Religious Studies, or a related discipline).
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- A strong understanding of the KS3 and KS4 Humanities curriculum.
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for the Humanities.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
