Food Technology Teacher Required - Secondary School in Lambeth - January 2025 Start

A dynamic secondary school in the diverse borough of Lambeth is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Food Technology Teacher to join their thriving Design and Technology department. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in January 2025.

The Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Food Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4. Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging and informative lessons that meet the requirements of the national curriculum and inspire students to develop their culinary skills, nutritional knowledge, and understanding of food science.
  • Creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, practical experimentation, and an appreciation for food and its cultural significance.
  • Assessing and monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and implementing differentiated learning strategies to cater to diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Utilizing a variety of teaching resources, including kitchen equipment, food preparation techniques, and nutritional analysis tools, to enhance students' learning experiences.
  • Collaborating with colleagues within the Design and Technology department to develop and enhance the curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to the school's commitment to providing a well-rounded education.

The Successful Candidate will have:

  • A degree in Food Technology, Home Economics, or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A strong understanding of the KS3 and KS4 Food Technology curriculum.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for food and nutrition.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
