Biology Teacher Required - Secondary School in Sutton - January 2025 Start
A forward-thinking secondary school in the vibrant borough of Sutton is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Biology Teacher to join their successful Science department. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in January 2025.
The Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Biology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at Key Stage 5 depending on the candidate's experience and expertise. Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging and inspiring lessons that meet the requirements of the national curriculum and foster students' curiosity and understanding of the living world.
- Creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation, scientific inquiry, and a passion for biology.
- Assessing and monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and implementing differentiated learning strategies to cater to diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Utilizing a variety of teaching resources, including laboratory experiments, fieldwork opportunities, and digital media, to enhance students' learning experiences.
- Collaborating with colleagues within the Science department to develop and enhance the curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to the school's commitment to providing a high-quality science education.
The Successful Candidate will have:
- A degree in Biology or a closely related field.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- A strong understanding of the KS3 and KS4 Biology curriculum, with knowledge of KS5 desirable.
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for biology.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
