Dedicated HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) – SEN Secondary School in Hackney

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Are you an experienced and compassionate HLTA looking to support students with special educational needs in a dynamic secondary school setting? Our school in Hackney is looking for a dedicated HLTA to join our team and play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality education to students with a range of SEND.

Role Overview:

As an HLTA, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to plan, deliver, and assess lessons for students with SEND. You will provide one-to-one and small group interventions and lead activities that support the academic, social, and emotional development of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead small group sessions and provide one-to-one support to students with SEND, tailored to their specific needs.
  • Support the class teacher in planning, preparing, and delivering lessons that engage all students.
  • Assist in the development and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with additional needs.
  • Track and monitor student progress, providing feedback to teachers, parents, and students.
  • Help to create an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel supported, respected, and engaged.
  • Provide additional support to students during assessments and exams, as required.

What We’re Looking For:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with students with SEND in a secondary school or similar setting.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A compassionate and proactive approach to student support.
  • A strong commitment to supporting students with diverse needs and backgrounds.
