We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and passionate English Teacher to join the team in February 2025. Whether you are an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT), this is an exciting opportunity to teach English at Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach A-Level English depending on experience.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, ensuring alignment with the curriculum and the development of key literacy skills.
  • Create dynamic and inspiring lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students, incorporating a variety of teaching methods, resources, and technologies.
  • Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and constructive feedback to support development.
  • Foster a deep understanding of English language and literature, including reading, writing, and communication skills, while encouraging critical analysis and independent thinking.
  • Incorporate a range of texts and media into lessons to develop students' understanding of literary themes, genres, and the cultural impact of English language and literature.
  • Promote critical thinking and creativity by encouraging students to engage with, discuss, and evaluate complex ideas in both written and spoken forms.
  • Support students' independent research through project-based learning, literary analysis, and discussions, encouraging a love for literature and language.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the English department and across the school to enhance cross-curricular learning and share best practices.
  • Contribute to the co-curricular program by organizing English-related activities such as book clubs, drama productions, or writing workshops.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and attendance, ensuring adherence to school policies and procedures.
  • Promote student well-being by creating a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages respect, cooperation, and personal growth.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in English education, participating in training and implementing new teaching strategies, resources, and technologies.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching English in secondary schools.
  • Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and assessment practices.
  • A degree in English, English Literature, or a related discipline (desirable).
  • A passion for teaching English and inspiring students to appreciate language and literature.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire students to reach their full potential.
