Role Responsibilities
The appointed teacher will:
- Deliver engaging and dynamic lessons in Food Technology and Design Technology across Key Stages 3-5, adapting to a range of student abilities.
- Equip students with practical skills in cooking, nutrition, design, and manufacturing while fostering creativity, innovation, and critical thinking.
- Develop a curriculum that combines theoretical understanding with hands-on experience, ensuring students are prepared for academic success and real-world challenges.
- Promote awareness of food science, healthy living, and sustainable practices in line with modern educational goals.
- Support students in completing coursework and assessments, providing clear and constructive feedback to enable their best outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with department colleagues to plan and enhance the curriculum, contributing to the department’s success and development.
- Participate in extracurricular activities, such as technology clubs, cooking competitions, or exhibitions, to enrich students’ learning experiences.
- Uphold high standards of health and safety in classrooms and workshops, fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for all learners.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE).
- Expertise in Food Technology and Design Technology, with the ability to teach confidently across all key stages.
- A track record of engaging students in practical and theoretical aspects of the subject, promoting independent thought and creativity.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach to working with colleagues and students.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, and classroom management.
- Knowledge of current trends in education, including sustainability and technological innovation in Food and Design Technology.
- The legal right to work in the UK.
