Supportive SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School in Camden

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Camden, Central London
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? Our primary school in Camden is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to students with additional learning needs, helping them achieve their full potential. You will be working in a vibrant, inclusive school community, playing a key role in ensuring that students with SEN can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.

Role Overview:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with teachers and the SENCo to ensure that students with additional learning needs, including Autism, ADHD, and speech and language delays, are provided with the support and guidance they need. You will help implement individual learning plans, assist students during lessons, and offer one-to-one or small group support where required. You will also work on social and emotional development with students, providing them with the tools they need to succeed academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support and small group interventions for students with SEN.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of lessons, ensuring they are accessible to all students.
  • Help students with learning tasks across a wide range of subjects, with a particular focus on literacy and numeracy.
  • Work closely with teachers to monitor student progress and provide tailored support.
  • Promote positive behavior and engage students in their social and emotional development.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and learning interventions.
  • Foster an inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • A patient, empathetic approach to supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of different learning needs and how to support them.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
