KS1 Class Teacher – Specialist School in Merton

Are you an enthusiastic and compassionate educator with a passion for supporting young learners with special educational needs (SEN)? Our specialist school in Merton is seeking a dedicated KS1 Class Teacher to join our team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students.

About the Role

As a KS1 Class Teacher, you will be at the forefront of delivering personalized and inclusive education to students with a range of learning needs. Collaborating with teaching assistants, therapists, and other specialists, you will create a positive and supportive learning environment where each child can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of students in KS1.
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to support students in achieving their personal and academic goals.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Create a nurturing classroom environment that encourages student participation, confidence, and independence.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver targeted interventions and support.
  • Help students build essential skills for academic success, social interaction, and personal growth.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching KS1 students, preferably within a special needs or specialist school setting.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of SEN and is skilled in adapting teaching to meet a variety of learning needs.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills and works well as part of a team.
  • Is dedicated to professional development and eager to try new teaching approaches.
  • Brings creativity, patience, and a proactive attitude to teaching.
