English Teacher – Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Wandsworth

Our Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Wandsworth is looking for an inspiring English Teacher to join our team and help transform the lives of students who need extra support outside of mainstream education.

The Role
As an English Teacher at our PRU, you will:

  • Design and deliver engaging and tailored English lessons that motivate and inspire students.
  • Use creative and flexible teaching methods to reignite students’ passion for learning.
  • Support students in developing essential literacy skills to achieve their academic goals.
  • Assess progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt teaching methods as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including support staff, therapists, and external agencies, to meet individual student needs.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes students’ social, emotional, and academic growth.

What We’re Looking For
We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching English, particularly in alternative provisions or PRU settings.
  • Demonstrates strong classroom management skills and a calm, empathetic approach to managing challenging behaviours.
  • Is committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
  • Possesses excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Is passionate about creating a supportive and engaging learning environment for young people.
