Supportive Deputy SENCo – Secondary School in Islington

Position: Deputy SENCo
Location: Islington
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Our secondary school in Islington is looking for a proactive and compassionate Deputy SENCo to join our dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity to help lead the development of our SEND provision and ensure that students with additional needs are fully supported in their educational journey.

Role Overview:

As the Deputy SENCo, you will work closely with the SENCo and other senior staff to lead the provision of support for students with SEND. Your role will involve overseeing the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), supporting classroom teachers with differentiated strategies, and ensuring that all students receive the appropriate support for their needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the SENCo in the strategic leadership of SEND provision across the school.
  • Monitor and assess the progress of students with SEND, adjusting strategies as required.
  • Work with teachers to ensure that lessons are differentiated and accessible for all students.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with SEND.
  • Provide support and training to staff on SEN strategies and best practices.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure effective support for students.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience in an SEN setting, with a strong understanding of SEND and IEP development.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and the well-being of all students.
