Dynamic Deputy SENCo – Primary School in Southwark

Position: Deputy SENCo
Location: Southwark
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Our inclusive primary school in Southwark is seeking a passionate and experienced Deputy Special Educational Needs Coordinator (Deputy SENCo) to support our students with SEND. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive and forward-thinking team, ensuring that all students have access to high-quality, individualized support.

Role Overview:

As Deputy SENCo, you will assist the SENCo in leading and managing the provision for students with special educational needs. You will work closely with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure that every child with additional needs receives the support they require to thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the leadership and management of SEND provision across the school.
  • Support in the development and review of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with SEND.
  • Work closely with teachers to ensure inclusive teaching practices and high-quality support for all students.
  • Monitor and track student progress, making adjustments to teaching strategies where necessary.
  • Coordinate and support the work of teaching assistants to ensure they are providing the right level of support to students.
  • Liaise with parents and external agencies to ensure a collaborative approach to supporting students with SEND.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience in SEN provision.
  • Experience working as a SENCo or Deputy SENCo, ideally in a primary school.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and best practices.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to lead and inspire others.
  • A proactive, empathetic, and collaborative approach to supporting students with SEND.
