The Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Food Teacher to join our team in January 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about food and its educational potential. Whether you are an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT), you will have the chance to inspire students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, with the opportunity to teach A-Level for the right candidate.

At our school, we believe in giving teachers the autonomy to be creative and engaging, while providing the necessary support to help students reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver dynamic and engaging Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, ensuring that all students' needs are met through inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Develop and refine hands-on, practical lessons that promote creativity, culinary skills, and an understanding of nutrition and food science.
  • Regularly assess student progress, providing feedback and support to ensure continuous academic improvement.
  • Encourage critical thinking by introducing students to the science behind food, as well as the wider societal and environmental impacts of food choices.
  • Integrate current trends and real-world applications into lessons, helping students connect their learning to everyday life and the food industry.
  • Support the development of key practical skills, research abilities, and evaluation techniques that will prepare students for further education and future careers.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the department to share best practices and improve the student experience.
  • Contribute to the school’s co-curricular activities, organizing food-related events such as cooking clubs, workshops, and guest speaker sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, behaviour, and attendance in line with school policies and procedures.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that fosters respect, teamwork, and personal growth.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience teaching Food Technology or related subjects at secondary school level.
  • A strong understanding of the Food Technology curriculum, both practical and theoretical.
  • A degree in Food Technology, Culinary Arts, or a related subject (desirable).
  • A passion for teaching Food and inspiring students to appreciate its importance in their academic and personal lives.
  • A commitment to student-centered teaching and holistic student development.
